Black Tot Finest Caribbean Rum is named after the British practice of providing Rum to sailors. Think of it as an official daily dram. And this wasn’t just a random Rum. It was a crafted blend of Caribbean Rums from across the British Empire. A few stoneware flagons of this Rum survived in the Navy warehouses. Black Tot founder Sukhinder Singh tacked down a few of these flagons from collectors, sampled the contents, and had them scientifically analyzed. He modeled their flagship Black To Rum after the original navy dram that conquered the world.

Black Tot Finest Caribbean Rum is built on the 300-year legacy of those old Navy flagons. It is a blend of Caribbean Rums from Barbados, Jamaica, and Guyana — all selected to build a complex character. The experiemented with 26 different combinations before arriving at the following: 40% Guyanan pot and column stilled aged three to five years, 20% Guyana pot and column still that’s un-aged, 35% pot and column stilled aged five years, and 5% Jamaican pot stilled aged three years. And it’s bottled at a very proper 46.2% ABV.

Smartass Corner:Originally, each British sailor was issued a gallon of beer per day. But in 1655 that was changed to a half pint of Rum — the daily tot. Often a squeeze of lime of lemon was added to ward off scurvy. This tradition was carried through all the way until July 31st, 1970 — Black Tot Day when the last official ration was dispensed.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0727/1251/9862/files/blacktotfinestcaribbeanrum-700_39535_01_8c8e9b87_21af64cb-f706-45b8-b68e-748786168740.jpg?v=1779126934
