And though the distillery popped into existence in \u0026lt;em\u0026gt;1849\u0026lt;\/em\u0026gt;, it wasn’t until the mid-1900s that they started bottling American Whiskeys under the Rebel Yell brand. The formula and branding were actually created by a character named \u0026lt;em\u0026gt;Charles R. Farnsley\u0026lt;\/em\u0026gt; — who served as both Mayor of Louisville, Kentucky, and as a Congressman… politicians and alcohol, right? Today, the brand name is different, but the \u0026lt;em\u0026gt;golden formula\u0026lt;\/em\u0026gt; is still very much the same.\u0026lt;\/p\u0026gt;\u0026lt;p\u0026gt;Now, for some rock star-infused story time: \u0026lt;em\u0026gt;Billy Idol\u0026lt;\/em\u0026gt; was doing shots with the \u0026lt;em\u0026gt;Rolling Stones\u0026lt;\/em\u0026gt; at a party. \u0026lt;em\u0026gt;Keith Richards\u0026lt;\/em\u0026gt; just loved him some hard liquor and he was fond of Rebel Yell — he’s the one who brought the bottle.
