Rumor has it, Whisky has been made here since the \u0026lt;em\u0026gt;1500s\u0026lt;\/em\u0026gt;, but the establishment called\u0026lt;em\u0026gt; Tomatin Spey Distillery\u0026lt;\/em\u0026gt; was founded in \u0026lt;em\u0026gt;1897\u0026lt;\/em\u0026gt;. In mid-Eighties, it was bought by \u0026lt;em\u0026gt;Takara Shuzo\u0026lt;\/em\u0026gt; and in 1987, it was known as the \u0026lt;em\u0026gt;largest\u0026lt;\/em\u0026gt; malt distillery in Scotland. They mostly make blended Whiskies (such as Talisman and Antiquary) and in 2014, they updated the previous 12YO expression and created this beauty.\u0026lt;\/p\u0026gt;\u0026lt;p\u0026gt;Now, it’s bottled at 43% ABV instead of 40%. The Spirit spent over a decade in\u0026lt;em\u0026gt; ex-Bourbon barrels\u0026lt;\/em\u0026gt;, before it received a lovely \u0026lt;em\u0026gt;Oloroso Sherry \u0026lt;\/em\u0026gt;finish. Its smoothness, subtlety and creaminess brought this Scotch a bunch of awards, including the \u0026lt;em\u0026gt;Double Gold\u0026lt;\/em\u0026gt; at 2019 San Francisco WSC and 91.5 points from Jim Murray.
