Long maceration and spontaneous fermentation in cement, followed by extended aging in large neutral botti, shape a wine of finesse over force in this elegant, early-drinking vintage. The 2012 opens with red cherry, rose petal, anise, and orange peel, underpinned by fine, talc-like tannins and a lifted, limestone-driven mineral thread. Air brings savory depth and subtle tar. A beautifully transparent Mascarello—already expressive yet with the architecture to age gracefully.</p>
