<p>More and more I’m loving the wines of Barossa Valley, and it has nothing to do with its most famous varietal Shiraz. Its the old vines of other grapes that are really impressing me. They still deliver the impactful fruit you expect from Barossa, but with with surprising freshness and energy. Here Cinsault is front and center–a grape that thrives in the heat but maintains red fruited character which I adore. It’s given some heft from the supporting grenache, syrah and mourvèdre.
