<p>Australian Ben Caldwell and Mexican Marco Ruiz Cantú met in oenology school and launched Somos (“we are” in Spanish) in 2016 with a focus on alternative varietals and making wines as naturally as possible. Here they use almost entirely Italian varietals to great success. Arneis–originally from Piedmont–delivers freshness while the garganega and verdelho add sneaky textureto round out the wine. The grapes are hand- picked and whole-bunch pressed, with natural co-fermentation, no fining or filtering. – Chris</p>
