<p>From the steep, wind-touched upper slope south of the village, Vaucrains’ thin limestone–marl over hard rock gives one of Nuits’ most structured, mineral expressions. The 2021 was hand-harvested and largely destemmed, then fermented with native yeasts in vat with gentle pump overs and a light touch of pigeage to keep the tannins fine. Élevage ran well over a year in barrels with a modest share of new oak before a late bottling to preserve detail. It is taut and classical in this cool, low-yielding vintage—red and black cherry, violet, and spice over a stony, saline line—framed by powder-fine but authoritative tannins that promise long, graceful evolution.</p>
