<p>Monção and Melgaço is a sub-region of Vinho Verde on the south side of the river Minho which forms the northern border with Spain. It is quite far inland, away from the cooling Atlantic breezes and for this reason has a warmer microclimate. The Alvarinho grapes thrive here as they do across the river in Rias Baixas. In the heart of this sub-region is Adega Co-operativa Regional de Monção, founded 1958 and now one of the best Co-operatives in Portugal due to its heavy investment in modern wine making technology.Escolha means ‘choice or selection’ this wine is light, spritzy and youthful with ripe peach and apricot flavours.
