A brilliantly-aged Jamaican Rum developing a creamy palate with the hogo notes you crave.

Appleton-branded liquid gold has been in constant production here since 1749. Appleton Estate sits in the Nassau Valley of Jamaica — an amazing rain forest with steeply domed hills and narrow valleys filled with some of the finest “terra rosa” soils on the planet. It’s the Napa Valley of Rum… the Champaign region of sugar cane. Appleton put this premium location to good use. They have a complete range of Rum Spirits to choose from light Rum for mixing drinks to intensely flavorful aged Spirits for sipping and savoring.

The formula is simple. Take estate-grown cane, naturally ferment it, distill it exclusively in copper pot stills, and age it in ex-Bourbon casks under the Caribbean sun. And even though the label on Appleton Estate Rare Blend 12 Year Old Rum says it’s been aged for twelve years, that is the youngest Rum in the bottle. In reality it is a blend of Rums aged from twelve to eighteen years. That’s just the way they do things at Appleton, and one of the may reasons that they are one of the premier Rum producers in the world.

Smartass Corner:“Terra rosa” or “terra rossa” means “red earth” and refers to a rich, well-drained soil with a neutral pH laying over limestone or dolomite in the presence of volcanic ash that encouraged the formation of hematite (an iron ore) in the soil. It is the rusty iron ore that gives the soil a bright red color and it’s perfect for growing certain valuable crops, including sugarcane.
