<p>A smooth and spicy Cognac-like Rum from the Canary Islands aged eighteen years on site. </p><p>The <em>Canary Islands</em> sit just off the northwest coast of Africa just above the Tropic of Cancer. They sit at about the same latitude as Miami, giving the islands a warm, Caribbean vibe with a bit less humidity and rain. This is where the <em>Fábrica de San Pedro </em>sugar factory was established on August 9th, 1884. The first Spirits came off the stills the following year. Since then, the vast majority of the Rum produced has been <em>consumed locally</em> and in nearby <em>Portugal </em>and <em>Spain</em>. They produce a tidy range of eight premium Rums and seven exotic Liqueurs that should be on every Rum fan’s list.</p><p><em>Arehucas Anejo Reserva Especial</em> is a surprisingly good sipping Rum. This is some of the finest Spirit made by Arehucas that has aged in a variety of <em>European oak casks</em>. To our palate, this fine Rum is more Cognac-like than Caribbean Rum with a bit more of a spicy bite. But it is every bit as <em>refined </em>and <em>smooth</em> on the finish.</p>
