<p>:Thurnhof’s flagship red wine is made from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes with a small portion of Merlot. After bottling and bottle ageing, the wine is concentrated, rich in tannins, with intense aromas of blackcurrants, elderberries and blackberries. It is a wine that is very suitable for prolonged ageing, during which fine tertiary aromas evolve.Grape varierty:Cabernet Sauvignon and a small percentage of Merlot – South Tyrol DOCProduction area:In Aslago, in the area above the farm, the vines are cultivated on soils of profiric origin. Beneath the porphyry layer are glacial moraines that are still explored by the roots of the vines and give the wines their great minerality. In this warm and sunny area, elegant and structured wines with great finesse and longevity growVinification:A late harvest and long fermentation is followed by maturation in small and medium-sized oak barrels for 12-18 months.Food pairing:Serving temperature:16 – 18°C.Ageing potential:more than 10 years.Bottle size:750 ml – 75 cl – 0,75 lt.Allergens:wine can contain sulphites.Producer:Thurnhof WineryThe area is dotted with castles, churches and palaces and at the foot of the southern slope of the Virglberg lies a thousand-year-old farm, where passion, attention and patience become first-rate wines that proudly flaunt their position and varietal identity. Welcome to the Thurnhof! The 3.5-hectare winery south of Bolzano was mentioned in a document in the 12th century and was owned by the clergy for centuries. When Ignaz Mumelter bought the farm in the mid 19th century, the winery was owned by the family and is now run by Andreas Berger in the sixth generation. On the Virglberg, Schiava, Lagrein, Cabernet Sauvignon and Goldmuskateller thrive on the warm porphyry soils, which impress with their elegance and minerality. At the bottom of the Bolzano valley, Goldmuskateller and Lagrein develop dimensions and intensity, while in the higher altitudes the Sauvignon develops breed and finesse.Thurnhof – Fam.
