Château D’Armailhac 5eme Grand Cru Classe Pauillac, Bordeaux, France, 2008Grapes: 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot,76ha vineyard on deep gravel soil, average 40 year old vines (with 60 year old Cab Franc), aged 18 months in French oak barrelsThe estate was acquired by Baron Philippe de Rothschild of neighbouring Mouton Rothschild in 1933.Producer Tasting Note:A deep red, Château d’Armailhac 2008 is a wine in the classic mould. The nose displays fruity morello cherry aromas lifted by delicate touches of roasted coffee and vanilla. From a forthright and elegant attack, the palate develops red fruit flavours underpinned by highly elegant, silky tannins. Round and full-bodied, the wine offers a long and lingering finish.Critics’ Tasting Notes:”A dense plum/purple color is followed by a supple, evolved, medium-bodied wine revealing an elegant bouquet of red and black currants, charcoal, toast and earth. Enjoy this impressive 2008 over the next 12-15 years.” 89/100 points, Robert Parker, robertparker.com, May 2011″Herbal, minty and leafy with red fruits, medium body and a salty, red berry finish. The wine is a bit strict and the tannins stand out. Give it a few more years for the wine to soften and fill out.”90/100 points, Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider, September 2018Château D’Armailhac Pauillac 5eme Grand Cru Classe 2008
