Chateau de Cruzeau Blanc, Vignobles Andre Lurton, Pessac-Leognan, Bordeaux, France, 2022Grapes: 100% Sauvignon Blanc, 14ha vineyard (for white grapes), deep gravel soil, 10 months lees ageing in oak barrels (35% new)Whole-grape pressing, fermentation and barrel ageing with bâtonnage (stirring of the lees) are some of the rigorous winemaking methods used to make Château de Cruzeau white wines, in order to obtain the finest expression of its terroir. A rich, complex nose, with lovely notes of white fruit and citrus, freshness and roundness on the palate: characteristics that contribute to the charm and elegance of these white wines.Producer Tasting Note:Bright, crystalline yellow colour. On the nose, aromas of exotic fruits and grapefruit combine with elegant nuances of brioche and toast to create an intense and deliciously seductive bouquet. On the palate, the balance is remarkable, with a fine fullness underpinned by an unctuous texture and an invigorating freshness that lingers on the long finish. Delicate floral notes add to the overall impression, while a subtle woody note on the finish gives the wine an even more delicious dimension.Critics’ Tasting Notes:”The nose is expressive and fresh, offering citrus notes (lemon, lime, grapefruit) combined with hints of tangy pineapple, passion fruit, and light herbaceous (freshly cut grass) and slightly yeasty notes. The palate is vibrant and well-balanced, expressing citrus notes (lemon, lime, grapefruit, lemon zest), fresh herbs, and fresh flowers. It has lovely acidity and good length, with a lingering yeasty character that should dissipate.A very pleasant freshness and energy.”(92-93)/100 points,VertedeVin, April 2023″Flowers, and lemon peel shine here in nose, and in the round, creamy, fruity finish. Drink this over the next few years for its fruity character. Drink from 2025-2029.”89/100 points, Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider, March 2025Food Match: Pan-fried scallops with hazelnut butter, citrus risotto and grilled prawns, fish tagine with sweet spices and preserved lemons, goat’s cheese with honey.Chateau de Cruzeau Blanc, Vignobles Andre Lurton, Pessac-Leognan, Bordeaux, France, 2022
