<p>Chateau De Fleurie “La Madone”, Maison Jean Loron, Fleurie, Beaujolais, France, 2023Grapes: 100% Gamay, handpicked and hand sorted, 1.2ha vineyard with steep slopes of sandy/granite soil up to a metre in depth. 60% whole cluster ferment. To extract more body, colour and tannins the maceration lasts about 20 days in wooden vats covered by a “chapeau grillé”. 8-9 months vat ageing.This Fleurie wine has an intense amaranthine/purple colour with garnet reflections. The nose offers aperfect alchemy between light, floral notes of Peony and intense aromas of red berries. The mouthreveals raspberry fruit and silky tannins offering good ageing potential.We have been fans of Chateau Fleurie for generations here at Frazier’s and so have our customers. Here we have the La Madone which is a special cuvee from a small climat (vine plot, with its own microclimate and specific geological conditions)in Fleurie and at only a few pounds more than the regular Chateau Fleurie is a fantastic bargain for the quality of wine.
