<p>Chateau Kirwan Magnum, 3eme Grand Cru Classé Margaux, Bordeaux, France, 2016Grapes: 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 7% Cabernet-franc, 5% Petit Verdot from mostly gravel soils (some clay). Yield 50hl/ha, 18 months in French oak (50% new)Producer Tasting Note:The 2016 vintage, bottled in late May, displays a superb dark ruby, almost garnet red colour. An intense bouquet of black fruit stands out in the nose, along with notes of cinnamon and mild pepper. In the mouth, the attack is at once full and fresh, promptly giving way to rich and lengthy volume. The smooth, juicy flesh coats the palate while fine notes of cocoa round out the aromatic blend. Delightfully grained tannins combine with distinct freshness and a lovely length. The wine offers a perceptible yet discrete concentration, illustrating the full grandeur of the Château Kirwan terroir.Superb potential for this 2016 vintage!Critics’ Tasting Notes:”Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Kirwan is scented of red plums, cassis, redcurrants, earth and cigar box. The palate is medium-bodied, lean, chewy and lively with an earthy finish.”Drink 2019-203190/100 points, Lisa Perroti-Brown, Wine Advocate, Nov 2018″This big, rich wine offers dense tannins as well as sumptuous black fruits. Fruit and acidity come together to create a wine with both richness and juicy black-plum flavors.
