<p>Chateau Latour, 1er Grand Cru Classé, Pauillac, Bordeaux, France, 2004Grapes: A blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc, gravel soil, 60 year old vines, aged in French oak barrels (100% new)Chateau Tasting Note:The 2004 vintage saw the return of a very classic wine with a powerful, fresh, lively style, and a solid, precise structure. Very concentrated fruit is supported by an imposing structure, and already showing great purity and a rare level of energy. The finish is long and very silky, supported by very well-integrated tannins.Critic’s Tasting Notes:”What a brilliant wine conjured by the team in 2004! Cropped at 52hl/ha, it retains that pure nose of blackberry, cedar, a hint of liquorices this time, then that note of damson, but it certainly appears to be opening up since I tasted it last year. Wonderful definition. The palate is full-bodied with rounded tannins, notes of blackberry, bilberry and blueberry, breeding and style in abundance here, leading to a warm, velvety, sappy finish that lacquers the palate. Wine of the vintage?” Drink 2015-203595/100 points, Neal Martin, Wine Journal, November 2009″Surprisingly woodsy, with truffle, cassis, earth, tobacco, cedar chest and blackberry in the developed nose. There is a nice softness to the tannins and fruit. Not yet fully mature, but quite developed for a vintage of Latour at 10 years of age, the wine offers pleasure, refined textures, balance and sweet berries in the finish. Drink now, or wait 5 years for more complexity.”94/100 points, Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider, January 2015This is part of a private customer’s collection.
