The 1996 Château Pichon-Longueville-Baron is an outstanding vintage from one of Bordeaux’s most prestigious vineyards, located in the Pauillac appellation. This wine comes from a year considered one of the best for Bordeaux wines of the 20th century, particularly for the Left Bank of the Gironde, where Pauillac is located.

The 1996 vintage benefited from ideal weather conditions, allowing for a long ripening period, resulting in exceptional concentration and balance in the wines. The 1996 Château Pichon-Longueville-Baron is composed primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by a smaller proportion of Merlot and possibly a touch of Cabernet Franc, as is typical in this region.

In the glass, the wine displays a deep, dark ruby red color, which already indicates its intensity. The bouquet is complex and layered, with aromas of black currant, cedarwood, tobacco, and a hint of leather that have developed harmoniously over the years. On the palate, the wine is powerful and structured, with firm yet elegant tannins that ensure long ageing potential. The fruit flavors are accompanied by a mineral note characteristic of Pauillac, as well as subtle spicy notes that add additional depth. The finish is long and intense, demonstrating the remarkable balance of this wine, which combines both power and finesse.
