Founded in 2004 by Ichiro Akuto, and operational from 2008, it was the first new Japanese distillery since 1973. It is located at Chichibu, a city in Saitama Prefecture, Japan.Most whisky from Chichibu is destined for the Japanese market and bottled for independent companies and outlets. This bottling is for the Seibu & Sogo department store chain in Japan They release multiple single-cask Chichibu whiskies yearly, all with the same label.Distilled in 2010 and bottled in 2015, this whisky’s pronounced red colour is due to its ageing/finishing in a port pipe (550 litre wine barrel). Bottled at 60% ABV.This is part of a private customer’s collection. These whiskies are in excellent condition.
