<p>The Niepoort Colheita 2009 is a single-vintage aged tawny port that exudes the elegance and finesse of a long-aged port. Colheita means “harvest,” and this port matured for over a decade in small, old barrels before bottling. The long barrel aging imparts complex, oxidative aromas and a silky texture.</p><p> In the glass, the 2009 Colheita presents a warm amber color with orange reflections. The nose reveals an intense bouquet of dried fruits—particularly figs, dates, and apricots—accompanied by notes of roasted nuts, caramel, orange peel, and a hint of vanilla and cinnamon. On the palate, the wine is smooth, deep, and balanced. The sweetness is present, but perfectly integrated by a lively acidity, giving the wine freshness and flow. The finish is long, warm, and nutty with a lingering aftertaste of toffee and slightly smoky wood notes.</p><p>The Niepoort Colheita 2009 is excellent as a solo wine, but also pairs well with nut desserts, crème brûlée, mature hard cheeses, or simply a quiet evening.
