<p>Peat is all about Islay? Drink again. Here’s a peated Irishman!</p><p>Connemara (named for the area in Ireland) is the name given to peated spirit made at Cooley Distillery in Dundalk. It is <em>double-distilled</em> in the Scottish style. As with Cooley’s other Whiskeys, they are matured at the Locke’s Distillery in Kilbeggan. Connemara is <em>Ireland’s only peated Whiskey </em>currently on the market, although in centuries past smoky Irish Whiskeys would have been more common.</p><p><u>Smartass Corner:</u><em>Connemara is also famous for a beautiful green marble mined in the region, it is considered a national gem.</em></p>
