Corton Le Rognet Grand Cru, Domaine Bertrand Ambroise, Cote de Beaune, Burgundy, France, 2022Grape: 100% Pinot Noir, clay/limestone soil, 45 year old vines, organic, yield 40hl/ha, hand picked, 18 months’ oak ageing (100% new), 4000 bottles madeProducer Tasting Note:The wine exhibits savoury aromas of black cherry, dark plum & blackcurrant fruit with toasty oak and a touch of graphite. A serious, powerful wine, yet luscious and graceful on the palate thanks to firm, ripe tannins and concentrated black fruits and cinnamon spice. Drink 2028-2040Critical Acclaim:Awarded 2 Stars (out of 3) “Coup de Cœur”, Le Guide Hachette des Vins, 2025The domaine originates from the 18th century with vineyards around Nuit-St-Georges. 1987 was the year in which Bertrand took over the domaine and now Bertrand and Martine Ambroise have handed over much of the day to day running of the estate to their children, François and Ludivine. The estate style is one of rich opulent whites and full-bodied, powerful reds that age spectacularly. Vinification is traditional; nearly all the Pinot Noir is destemmed, given an extended maceration of 15 to 25 days and aged for 12-18 months in a mixture of 400 litre and 228 litre barrels, a high proportion of which is renewed each year. The estate has been certified organic by Ecocert since 2013.Food Match: Pair with game, including pheasant stuffed with foie gras, or roast rabbit leg with thyme, blue cheeses.Corton Le Rognet Grand Cru, Domaine Bertrand Ambroise, Cote de Beaune, Burgundy, France, 2022
