Cote Rotie “Les Trois Brunes” Lionel Faury, Northern Rhone, FranceGrape: A blend of 94% Syrah & 6% Viognier, steep mica/schist soil slopes, wild yeast fermentation, aged 18 months in large French oak (600L), bottled unfilteredProducer Tasting Note:A complex aromatic palette combining aromas of red and black fruits (raspberry, blackcurrant, etc.) with floral hints (violet in particular), evolving into spicy notes. The three plots are vinified and aged separately, only being blended one month before bottling. The wine has cherry, cola cube and graphite notes on the nose. The palate has a sense of opulence that is tempered by very fine and detailed tannins that really support the wine beautifully. A streak of acidity lifts it and gives energy and balance to the wine – a complete and very appealing style.Critic’s Tasting Note:”Tasted blind. Super-reductive nose at the moment. The palate has raspberry, clove, pepper and fine-grained tannins. In a reductive state at the moment, but seamless tannins and a fresh, zesty core beneath. Hard to judge but looks like it has everything there” Drink 2025-203216.5/20 points, Alistair Cooper MW, JancisRobinson.com, December 2022Also awarded 91/100 points, WINE SPECTATOR, March 2024Domaine Faury was established in 1979 by Philippe Faury and, since 2006, the 17ha estate has been run by his son, Lionel.Food Match: Beef carpaccio, homemade steak tartare, leg or shoulder of lamb.Cote Rotie “Les Trois Brunes” Lionel Faury, Northern Rhone, France
