<p>A rare, meaty, well-aged Single Malt from a storied Speyside distillery.</p><p><em>Craigellachie</em> has been producing Single Malt Whisky on site since <em>1891</em>. It is <em>one of the original</em> Speyside Whiskies. The name Craigellachie means “rocky hill” and, sure enough, it’s a Speysider that sits on a rocky hill directly across from <em>The Macallan facility</em> in the township of Aberlour. A majority of their production goes into<em> the famous Dewer’s blend</em>, and only a few Single Malt releases come available. Craigellachie is owned by <em>Bacardi</em>, perhaps not surprisingly through their Dewer’s & Sons subsidiary.</p><p>A few years ago, getting your hands on an official Single Malt release of Craigellachie was a <em>rare thing indeed</em>. But the clamoring of fans <em>got the distillery’s attention</em> and they started coming out with regular Single Malt offerings in <em>2014</em>.</p><p><em>Craigellachie 17 Year Old</em> is a stellar, perfectly aged example of Craigellachie Single Malt with a <em>rich, meaty flavor profile</em>. This superior dram is delivered at a perfect <em>46%</em> ABV.</p><p><u>Smartass Corner:</u><em>“Meaty” is a word to describe Scottish Whiskies that have a slightly higher sulfur content, and thus a hint of “roasted meats and matchsticks” in the flavor profile.
