<p>A lighter-style, unoaked red made from the native Cretan red grape Liatiko. The nose is full of raisins, caramel, fig, red and black fruits, and a touch of spice like cinnamon and clove. Medium bodied, and deliciously tangy on the palate – think pomegranate, cherry stone and hints of herbal bergamot – with raspy fruit tannins and refreshing acidity. </p><p>Although production on the island of Crete centres around olive oil, it is slowly retuning back to its roots of wine production. One of these wineries turning back the tide is the family run estate of Diamantakis, founded in 2007 by Nikolaos G. Diamantakis and his sons Ioannis, Michalis and Zacharias.
