<p>An aged Rum as fine as any you will find, finished in Sherry casks, and elegant like a queen. </p><p><em>The Licorerías Unidas S.A Distillery </em>was founded in 1959 deep in the heart of Venezuela in partnership with <em>Seagrams</em>. The partnership was very successful, supporting Rum production in the Seagrams portfolio for decades. During the acquisition binge of the 1990s, Seagrams was largely acquired by industry giant <em>Diageo</em> who already had a large production capacity. Seeing an opportunity, local management and entrepreneurs bought the distillery and the <em>Diplomatico brand</em> from Diageo in 2002, renaming it <em>Distilería Unidos</em>. Today they produce a wide array of quality Spirits under<em> family ownership</em>.</p><p><em>Diplomático Ambassador Rum</em> is a delight. There’s just no other way to say it. It is comprised of the most select casks of Diplomatico Rum — from a <em>combination of column and pot copper stills</em> — aged on site in <em>white oak </em>for a full twelve sun-drenched, tropical years. Then it’s finished in<em> Pedro Ximenez Sherry</em> casks and bottled at an exquisite 47% ABV. This is a fine Spirit crafted by <em>Tito Cordero</em> — a winner of the Master Rum Blender of the Year award. It is designed to be sipped neat and we can’t imagine serving it any other way.</p>
