A well-balanced Sancerre of great fruit purity, from 55 year old vines grown in clay soils. Bold, complex and full of character. Lots of floral aromas and vanilla nuances, pear, peach, and mandarin fruit. The mouthfeel is full and rich, with some waxy citrus, more rich fruit and an underlying nutty quality leading to a long finish with plenty of acidity. Good texture imparted by one year in barrel.

Planted predominantly on the steep slopes of Menetou-Râtel, Bernard Fleuriet’s vineyards feature the three key soils of Sancerre: stony calcareous soils), clay, and flint.

Matthieu’s father Bernard began the domaine in 1991 along with Benoît, his other son. They started with just 1.5 hectares, and this grew to 4 hectares, all of which went to the cooperative. Then in 2002 Matthieu joined, and they began producing their own wines. They now have 35 hectares of vines, 5 in Menetou-Salon and 30 in Sancerre.

Origin: Loire Valley, FranceVintage: 2023 Grape varieties: Sauvignon BlancFood pairings: white meats, fish, cheeseBottle size: 75clABV: 13%

ORGANIC / NATURAL
