<p>Founded in 1982 in the heart of Anjou-Saumur in the Loire Valley, Domaine des Bénédictins is now run by fourth-generation Ludovic Thermeau, who has steered his family’s estate towards quality-first winemaking. Since taking over in 2005, Ludovic has extended the area under vine, while increasing biodiversity and applying an organic approach to farming.</p><p>Ludovic now tends 48ha of local varieties Cabernet Franc, Chenin Blanc, and Grolleau, as well as a little Chardonnay, across an array of clay-limestone and schist terroirs.</p><p>The ‘Perle des Bénédictins’ is crafted from 100% Chardonnay, which is fermented traditionally in stainless steel tanks and aged on its lees. It offers a nutty and herbal-edged stone fruit character alongside a creamy texture and gentle effervescence.</p>
