Les Blanchots is a unique terroir made of a layer of white clay on Kimmeridgian limestone with ammonites. This is the ideal combination to keep the right amount of water for roots. The South-East exposure allow slow ripening and flavours aroma development.Age of vines : 40 yearsVinification and maturation :Hand harvest and sorting at the winery. Fermentation in oak casks and in stainless steel tanks. Ageing on fine lees in the same casks and tanks.Vintage Report :A season marked by its precocity. The buds started to show early April, 10 days earlier compared to the 2015 vintage, an early one itself. The cold wave that followed slowed down the growth, leaving good conditions for the flowering beginning of June. Even though we can compare this precocious vintage with the 2015, the grape balance is compared to the 2014 vintage because of the cool temperature settling at the end of the maturation process. This singular season offered beautiful bunch and quality grapes bringing the well-structured wines with a nice freshness.Tasting :Blanchots is delicate, silky and shows its charm after 5 years in bottle.
