Domaine Tariquet Classic, IGP Côtes De Gascogne, France, 2023 Grape varieties: Gros Manseng 32%, Ugni Blanc 25%, Colombard 20%, Sauvignon 15%, Chardonnay 5% and Chenin 3%This dry, fruity wine boasts magnificent intensity and lovely open floral and citrus scents, with a delightfully exotic feel. A bracing, crisp wine with great freshness in the mouth. The finish pleasantly revives the palate with an almost salty touch.Critic’s Tasting Note:”With this 2023 vintage, Domaine Tariquet is celebrating the 41st vintage of this “Classic” vintage and demonstrates once again that simplicity, freshness and charm are precious assets, and not necessarily overpriced. But this vintage also marks important changes: new label and a new blend in which Gros Manseng becomes the majority grape variety, followed by Ugni blanc. We thus notice gains in complexity, structure, persistence and finesse. Impressive when you realize that the wine has managed to retain its identity, its crunch and its lightness. The result is drunk with the greatest simplicity, purely for the pleasure of the fruit and freshness, while encouraging a toast with friends. Dry, floral and fruity, it turns out to be balanced and leaves us with a deliciously lemony finish.” Drink 2024-202788/100 points, Bacchus Magazine (Canada), January 2024Serve thoroughly chilled with a great variety of dishes:APERITIF AND STARTERSOysters, razor shells, crab claw salad, tuna tartare, sea bream ceviche, salmon or beef carpaccio, marinated peppers, duck rillettes, black pork ham.MAIN COURSESGrilled langoustines, sushi and sashimi, chipirones a la plancha, sole meunière, seasonal salads, crunchy stir-fried vegetables, risotto with scallops, duck tartare.CHEESEFresh goat cheese, Saint-Marcellin, Appenzeller.DESSERTSLemon sorbet, canelés, apple-pear crumble.Domaine Tariquet Classic, IGP Côtes De Gascogne, France, 2023
