Dow’s 2018 Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) Port is crafted from traditional grape varieties—Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Sousão, Tinta Barroca, and Tinta Roriz—Dow’s 2018 LBV embodies the same heritage as Dow’s iconic Vintage Ports. Sourced from the historic Quinta do Bomfim and Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira vineyards, which have been nurtured by five generations of Symington family winemakers, this LBV showcases Dow’s signature style: intense, structured wines with fresh black fruit, peppery tannins, and a notably drier profile. The grapes are foot-trodden in modern lagares, ensuring rich extraction and depth. The 2018 growing season was marked by abundant spring rain, replenishing soil moisture after a dry winter. Although summer started cool, a hot August restored maturation, resulting in low yields and exceptional quality. The wine greets with vibrant aromas of blackberry and blueberry, uplifted by a fresh mint note. On the palate, generous black forest fruits, fleshy black plum, and peppery tannins reveal a refined structure, supported by bright acidity. The finish is long and dry, with hints of tobacco and tea. This Port is bottled ready to drink, requires no decanting, and remains fresh for 6–8 weeks once opened. Perfect on its own or paired with dark chocolate desserts, Cheddar, or Manchego. For more than two centuries, Dow’s has been synonymous with exceptional Ports from the vineyards of the Upper Douro Valley. Since 1912, when Andrew James Symington joined as a partner, five generations of Symington winemakers have cultivated their vineyards at Quinta do Bomfim and Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira, producing many remarkable wines—including the only 21st-century Vintage Port to achieve a perfect 100-point score.Dow’s Late Bottled Vintage Port 2018
