<p>A Bottled in Bond version of Evan Williams signature Bourbon style at 50% ABV that makes for a great daily tipple.</p><p><em>Heaven Hill Distillers </em>is unique. They are <em>one of the oldest </em>and <em>largest </em>Bourbon distillers in the world, they have the second largest standing inventory of aging Bourbon, and they have grown to become<em> the seventh largest supplier</em> of Spirits in the US. BUT… they are still<em> family owned. </em>In fact, they are the only family-owned production house left in Kentucky. You’ve got to respect the Shapira family! The Spirit brands owned and controlled by Heaven Hill includes Evan Williams, Elijah Craig, their namesake Heaven Hill, and many dozens more.</p><p>To those in-the-know, <em>Evan Williams Bottled In Bond Bourbon</em> is known as “Evan Williams White” due to its distinctive white label It falls in about the middle of the Even William line-up, but it is a perennial member of our personal “best value” list.</p><p>The mash bill is 78% corn, 10 rye, and 12% malted barley. There is no age statement, but since it is labeled as “Bottled in Bond” (BIB) we know that it is Even Williams Spirit from a single season where <em>the youngest juice in the bottle</em> was aged four years. BIB also means that it is <em>50%</em> ABV. So what we have here is a<em> nicely sweet, floral </em>and <em>fruity</em> Bourbon with just a dash of spice that happens to be a great value. Sound good to us.</p><p><u>Smartass Corner:</u><em>The original Evan Williams is a legend. In 1783 he opened one of the first commercial distilleries in Kentucky on 5th Street in downtown Louisville. Then, like now, location is everything. It was a combination of high-quality Whiskey and easy access to the city that spurred his success.</em></p>
