<p>A blend of well-aged Bacardi Rums re-filtered until nearly clear. </p><p>Bacardi is still <em>family owned</em> — seven generations of the Bacardi family have run the company since it was founded on February 4th, 1862. They are <em>the largest privately held </em>Spirits company in the world. Headquartered in Hamilton, Bermuda, they are best known for their namesake White Puerto Rican Rum. But they are a <em>worldwide producer</em> of Spirits covering every major category with annual sales nearing US $5 billion.</p><p>To celebrate the <em>150th</em> <em>anniversary </em>of the company, Bacardi set out to create a masterpiece line of <em>ultra-premium Rums</em>. Thus, they created the <em>Facundo</em> range of four special Rums — each distinct and unique.</p><p>There is a trend in premium Spirits — especially with Rums — to age them properly, then <em>re-filter </em>them to remove most if not all of the color. The process yields a nearly clear Spirit with the flavor profile of a <em>well-aged dram</em>. The prefix “neo” means new, but all of the Spirits in <em>Bacardi Facundo Neo Rum</em> are aged. It has been released as the <em>entry-point </em>to their premium line-up with Rums from their portfolio aged between one and eight years.</p><p><u>Smartass Corner:</u><em>The Facundo range of ultra-premium Rums from Bacardi is named after the original founder, Don Facundo Bacardi Massó.</em></p>
