<p>Hermitage “Frederic Reverdy”, Ferraton Père et Fils,Northern Rhone, France, 2021Grape: 100% Syrah, biodynamicContinuing the work of his father Frédéric Reverdy, Jean Orens Ferraton created his own vineyard in 1946 in the Hermitage and Crozes-Hermitage appellations. In 1998, vineyards were converted into organic farming, and selected parcels were vinified separately in order to show the diversity of the terroir. Today, Ferraton Père et Fils is a small family-owned business that operates independently but under the Chapoutier expertise and finance. The winery owns vineyards in the appellations of Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage and Saint-Joseph.Pair with grilled meats (particularly rib of beef & Toulouse pork sausages) and dishes with truffles, olives and Provencal herbs such as thyme, oregano & rosemary. Game, including venison & wild boar work well with this savoury style of Syrah as do aged, hard cheeses like Comté.
