<p>More fire for more flavor.</p><p>In <em>1875</em>, 5000 Whiskey barrels from Malone’s bonded warehouse in Dublin suddenly lit on fire. This was <em>Dublin’s Great Whiskey Fire</em> and it could have been a catastrophe if it wasn’t for the lone squeal of a ‘flaming pig’ that alarmed everybody and eventually saved the city from a disaster. Thank you, pig!<em> Flaming Pig Irish Whiskey</em> was founded by <em>Joey and Flor </em>over a century later to honor <em>‘The Pig That Saved Irish Whiskey’.</em> These two drinks industry fellas wanted an uncomplicated Irish Whiskey but with more taste and character than your everyday dram. They believe good Whiskey is meant to be enjoyed not examined and we sure did. Enjoy their Whiskey, that is.</p><p><em>Flaming Pig Black Cask</em> blends together Irish Single Malt and grain Whiskies. The<em> 6-month aging process</em> is something special, too: the Whiskey rests in char #5 barrels, mind you, the highest char is usually at #4. The intense barrel charring makes this Whiskey richer and spicier with an added layer of smokiness. Cut to proof with pure spring water, the result is a woody and caramelized Whiskey that’s reminiscent of Bourbon but still very much Irish.</p><p><u>Smartass Corner: </u><em>The distillery lads call the heavily blackened casks ‘flaming pigs’.
