<p>Fleur de Chateau Pedesclaux, Pauillac, Bordeaux, France, 2019Grapes: A blend of 67% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot, 49ha vineyard on gravel/limestone soil, hand picked, organic, gravity fed winery, 12 months’ ageing in French oak barrels (30% new)Producer Tasting Note:Ethereal, fresh, appealing to both the nose and the palate, Pédesclaux’s (Fifth Growth) second wine is a flower that unfurls as you approach. Thanks to its reliance on a high proportion of Merlot, the wine is soft and gentle, with a delicious, silky texture. It has intense, compelling and savoury fruit aromas and, year after year, beautifully calibrated scents of white flowers, violets and small red berries. Exhibiting a more high-spirited elegance yet nonetheless showing remarkable length, Fleur de Pédesclaux is a delight. In the mouth, it is fresh, subtle, packed with fruit and beautifully smooth tannins, with a long finish. In this more floral expression, the marvellous complexity of our terroir is once again evident, but in a mouth-watering style that is instantly festive.Critics’ Tasting Notes:”Soft, polished, fresh and fruity, the elegantly-textured, red currants already shine nicely on the nose and palate. Medium-bodied and fully ready-to-go, this is perfect for ordering in a café or bistro.” Drink from 2022-203090/100 points, Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider, January 2022″Sweet and ripe currants with dark cherries, too. Floral and perfumed. Medium-bodied with firm, silky tannins and a fresh, vivid finish. Second wine of Pedesclaux.” Drink after 2025.
