Burgundian in character and winemaking, fermentation occurs in open top tanks with just enough stems to perfect elegant tannins. The soft ruby colour is deceptive, there is grip and amplitude to these wines that grabs our attention.”100% Grenache, certified organic. This is not from the Rossi vineyard that the Williams family of Frog’s Leap now own of course (I should have taken notice of the appellation!) but is one of the other two Rossi Ranches, this one in Sonoma.Transparent ruby. Really interesting wine in which the sweetness is an integral part of the grape variety rather than a winemaking decision. Beautiful balance, freshness, delicacy and purity. If I lived in California, I’d snap it up. In Europe, it’s difficult to ignore the plethora of old-vine Spanish Garnachas that sell for a fraction of this.
