Nose: This Gewürztraminer selection is characterized by a dense, finely knit nose revealing exotic tropical aromas of grapefruit, lime, lychee and orange underpinned with rose leaf and ginger notes. Taste: The fruity aromatic character of the wine continues on the palate, which makes it highly quaffable. With its classic dry finish, the wine is complex but at the same time very salty and smooth.Grape variety:Gewuerztraminer – South Tyrol DOCProduction area:Terlano is a wine-growing village located halfway between Alto Adige’s main towns of Merano and Bolzano where the Adige flows through a wide valley in a south-easterly direction. The village and vineyards nestle against the red porphyry rock of Monte Tschöggl on the orographically left side of the valley. Sandy-stony, well-drained soils.Vinification:Manual harvest and selection of the grapes; gentle whole cluster pressing and clarification of the must by natural sedimentation; slow fermentation at a controlled temperature and aging on the lees for nine months partly in big wooden barrels (50%) and partly in stainless steel tanks (50%); blending three months before bottling.Food pairing:An attractive combination with the sweet and sour dishes typical of Asian cuisine, grilled scorpion fish or swordfish, and pink-roasted pigeon breast as well as squash gnocchi with walnuts and Alba truffles with a Balsamico dressing; also ideal with rice pudding with cinnamon; and with mild blue cheese, like a mild gorgonzola.Serving temperature:12 – 14°C.Ageing potential:more than 8 years.Bottle size:750 ml – 75 cl – 0,75 lt.Allergens:wine can contain sulphites.Producer:Terlano Winery Terlano’s tradition as a wine terroir dates back over 2000 years. That vines thrive so well in the lee of Monzoccolo is due to the mild, almost Mediterranean climate with hot sunny days and cool nights during the ripening time. The striking red, easily warmed porphyry soil of Terlano also contributes to the high quality of the grapes. In the heart of this South Tyrolean wine region the Terlano winery was established in 1893. Today the co-operative has over 200 members and a total area of 240 hectares. 70% of the vineyard acreage is planted with white grapes. In modern cellars the fruits of this careful, natural cultivation are turned into wine with that perfect touch and the necessary controls.Because of the mineral content of the wines the region of Terlano is also frequently likened to French vine growing areas.
