<p>Distilling comes back to Glasgow with a rich, fresh, and fruit-forward Single Malt in the Lowland style. </p><p><em>The Glasgow Distillery</em> is both old and new. There was a distillery by that name way back in the day — 1770, that is. But wars, depressions, Prohibition, and other misfortunes led to its disappearing form history. But in 2014 the founding partners — <em>Liam Hughes, Mike Hayward and Ian McDougall</em> — reopened a new version of the historic distillery in the heart of Glasgow. They installed two new copper stills named<em> Tara and Mhairi</em> and set to work making Single Malt in the Dundashill section of Glasgow. Their first releases came out in 2019 to superlative reviews.</p><p><em>Glasgow 1770 The Original</em> is THE foundational dram that they are building their lineup and reputation on in their signature<em> “Fresh and Fruity”</em> style. It made from 100% Scottish barley and water from the nearby Loch Katrine. It aged first in <em>ex-Bourbon casks </em>and then finished in <em>virgin oak.</em> This classic Lowland Spirit is then bottled without chill-filtration as an absolutely perfect 46% ABV. And even though it’s just been out for a year, this gorgeous dram has a handful of <em>Gold and Silver Medals </em>from major competitions.</p>
