Graham’s 1977 Vintage PortGrapes: A blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca & Vinhao (Sousao) sourced mainly from the Quinta dos Malvedos & Quinta dos Lages vineyards, bottled unfined and unfiltered1977 was a great vintage for Graham’s, with an intoxicating nose of figs, violets, dark chocolate and pencil shavings the palate is complete and harmonious with lovely developing flavours and a long length. The perfect after dinner drink. The 1977 wines are considered among the best of the second half of the 20th century with ideal conditions of weather and temperature giving good colour and flavour.Producer Note:Now 37 years old, it’s a superbly rich and complex wine. Garnet red in colour and with lifted aromas of red fruits combined to floral hints of fresh mint and eucalyptus. On the palate, well balanced and with a firm tannic backbone leading to a long and intense finish. This mature Vintage Port is drinking excellently now, but has the structure and potential to continue developing gracefully in bottle for many more years.Critics’ Tasting Notes:”Really perfumed – cedarwood and cigar box. Cedarwood and sandalwood and cinnamon – incense-like. Rich and generous on the palate, but perhaps not as fresh as 1970, more nutty.” 18/20 points, Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson.com, November 2010″Mid tawny. Slightly reticent nose of gingerbread, Christmas cake and dried cherry. Voluptuous palate, with silky tannins and spicy, figgy intensity. Integral, dark-chocolate finish. Overall, gives the sense that this still has another phase to go – I’d love to see this in 10 years.” Drink 2000-204018/20 points, Tim Jackson MW, JancisRobinson.com, February 2021Graham’s 1977 Vintage Port
