<p>This selected vineyard ‘Grand Cru’ Gewurz shows lovely balance of ripeness, varietal purity and finesse (i.e. not overblown and flabby like some). Golden yellow in colour, it has powerfully fragrant rose-petal/water, lychee and apricot aromas with a hint of sweet spice; rich and pineappley but with fine structure and complexity, spicy juicy fruit and acidity combine well on the medium-dry finish.</p><p>Grapes are selected from vineyards with diverse soils – limestone, granite, gravel, marl and sandstone – which impart different characters and styles to the overall blend, and harvested by hand and machine, depending on site. Produced ‘traditionally’ by winemaker Jean Michel Lihrmann – pneumatic pressing, temperature controlled fermentation, no finings and light filtration before bottling – all to preserve fruit and aromatic qualities and elegance. His philosophy is to make wines with good acidity and fruit balance. Suitable for vegetarians/vegans</p><p>Try with blue cheeses, exotic cuisine such as the lemongrass flavours of Thai food or fish/chicken curries featuring ginger, mustard seed etc. and fair spice. Or even fruit and pastry desserts if not too sweet, and foie gras.</p>
