It was founded more than 100 years ago and initially burned the fires with the help of a disused steam locomotive, in whose boiler the fires were lit. It wasn’t until the mid-20th century that this was replaced with a modern copper flask. The distillery holds “Distillation License No. 1”, an old distillation license that is only issued by the tax office if the distillery is a very traditional business with a significant past and the highest level of craftsmanship.
