<p>A classy Gin from Helsinki that is sure to seduce you. </p><p>The setting of the <em>Helsinki Distilling Company</em> is probably not the most ordinary one in the heart of the abbatoir district where the city’s slaughterhouse operated from the 1930s to the 1990s. At one point in time, the distillery building also served as a power plant, a soap factory, a meatball factory, a car wash, and, a Wine cellar. (Bet you didn’t see all these coming.)</p><p>However, life’s ways are usually funny, and in 2014, the building became home to an award-winning distillery, founded by two friends, <em>Kai Kilpinen and Mikko Mykkänen,</em> who managed to bite through the complicated Finnish distilling regulations. Ever since, the portfolio of the first distillery in Helsinki in over 100 years includes premium Gin, the first local Aquavit, applejack from Finnish apples, “Lonkero” as well as Rye and Single Malt Whiskey.</p><p>Their <em>award-winning Helsinki Dry Gin</em> is an artisanal Gin, based on 9 hand-picked botanicals. It’s no secret which ones, since at Helsinki Distilling, they more than proudly share them. So, it’s Arctic lingonberry, Finnish lingonberries, rich Balkan juniper, Seville orange, lemone peels, fennel and coriander seeds, Orris root, Angelica root and even a pinch of rose petals. Bottled at <em>94 proof,</em> it’s blended with the purest Finnish water and basically tastes like if <em>Nordic forest and floral citrus-y flavors</em> had a baby. A super classy Gin that you can sip it on its own or with an espresso, you know, like Grappa. Another obvious option: enjoy it in a good ol’ G&T.</p>
