<p>If normal Highland Park is a 10, then this Single Malt turns it up to 11. </p><p>Highland Park is the most northerly distillery in Scotland on<em> </em>the<em> </em><em>Okrney Islands</em><em>.</em> Legend has it that it was founded by Whisky smuggler Magnus Eunson in the late 1700s and that he used his position as a church officer to conceal Whisky beneath the church pulpit.<em> Don’t assume</em> that “Highland Park” means their Whisky is made in the Highland style. In character, their spirit is closer to a midpoint <em>between Lowland and Islay</em> Single Malts. Perhaps the most famous Whiskey connoisseur of all time — journalist Michael Jackson — called Highland Park, <em>“The greatest all-rounder in the world of Malt Whisky.” </em></p><p>We have to say right from the start that we were immediately taken by the box — depicting to stacked guitar amplifiers. <em>Highland Park Full Volume</em> was developed in partnership with <em>Saul Davies</em> — music producer and guitarist for the band James. Where Highland Park Single Malts normally have a Sherry Cask influence, 481 first-fill ex-Bourbon casks were filled with Highland Park Single Malt in 1999. They bottled it up this year (2017) at 47.2% ABV, so the flavors are complex, strong, and… delivered at <em>full volume</em> without the static of artificial additives.</p><p>It’s all about catching a balance when it comes to making music… Making Whisky is no different. <em>It’s art…</em></p><p><u>Smartass Corner:</u><em>Highland Park Whiskies are not Highland-style Single Malts even though they have “Highland” in their name.
