<p>An exceptional seventeen year old Single Malt with a deep Sherry influence and a bit of northern smoke. </p><p><em>Highland Park</em> is the most northerly distillery in Scotland on the <em>Orkney Islands</em>. Legend has it that it was founded by Whisky smuggler <em>Magnus Eunson</em> in the late 1700s and that he used his position as a church officer to conceal Whisky beneath the church pulpit. Don’t assume that “Highland Park” means their Whisky is made in the Highland style. In character, their spirit is closer to a midpoint <em>between Lowland and Islay Single Malts</em>. Perhaps the most famous Whisky connoisseur of all time — journalist Michael Jackson — called Highland Park, <em>“The greatest all-rounder in the world of Malt Whisky.”</em></p><p>We don’t talk about packaging so much, but <em>Highland Park The Dark 17 Year Old</em> comes in a gorgeous black-glass bottle. What’s inside is classic Highland Park’s lightly smoked Single Malt aged for a full seventeen years in ex-Sherry casks. It’s really simple math… superior Single Malt spirit, <em>super-premium casks</em>, lots and lots of time well-spent, and <em>bottled strong </em>at 52.9% ABV.
