<p>A new entry into the Single Malt world of Highland Park is aged ten years in Sherry-season American and European oak.</p><p><em>Highland Park </em>is the most northerly distillery in Scotland on the Orkney island. Legend has it that it was founded by Whisky smuggler <em>Magnus Eunson</em> in the late 1700s and that he used his position as a church officer to conceal Whisky beneath the church pulpit. Don’t assume that “Highland Park” means their Whisky is made in the Highland style. In character, their Spirit is closer to a midpoint between <em>Lowland </em>and <em>Islay Single Malts. </em>Perhaps the most famous Whiskey connoisseur of all time — journalist Michael Jackson — called Highland Park, <em>“The greatest all-rounder in the world of Malt Whisky.”</em></p><p>Would you name your Whisky “scars?” Well, Highland Park did exactly that. And we’ve read a lot of speculation as to why the chose such a name, but then we decided to just <em>happily drink the Single Malt </em>and leave that question unanswered.</p><p><em>Highland Park Viking Scars 10 Years Old </em>is actually the youngest age-stated dram in their core lineup. But ten year is nothing to sneeze at. This is the famous Single Malt aged in Sherry-seasoned American and European oak casks for a decade. And we would take it as a<em> daily dram</em> given the chance.</p>
