<p>The top-of-the-line Single Malt from Jura aged eighteen years and finished in Bordeaux casks. </p><p>Not much happens on the island of Jura. This Scottish island just north of Islay has a population of <em>5000 red deer</em>, but <em>only 200 people</em>. But Jura has long had its namesake Whiskey — ever since the <em>Jura Distillery </em>was founded in <em>1810</em>. The facility fell into a bit of disrepair in the early part of the 1900s, but was<em> resurrected again</em> by <em>Robin Fletcher</em> and <em>Tony Riley-Smith</em> in <em>1963</em>. Now owned by <em>Emperador Distillers</em>, things have gone well since and Jura is a respected Single Malt once again with fans who crave their hybrid Island/Lowland style.</p><p>The Isle of Jura Distillery has been<em> experimenting</em> with Single Malt formulations for the last few years. <em>Isle of Jura 18 Year Old </em>represents the <em>new top-of-the-line offering</em>. It has been aged for a<em> full eighteen years</em> in <em>refill ex-Bourbon casks</em> and finished in <em>Premier Grand Cru Classé Bourdeaux Wine casks</em>. It’s bottled at a respectable 44% ABV, allowing the signature style of Jura Single Malt to <em>shine through</em>.</p>
