<p>A wonderful, exquisitely-aged Rum from the Dominican Republic made from blackstrap molasses and delivered at cask strength in a gorgeous crystal presentation decanter.</p><p>At the heart <em>3 Badge Beverage Corp.</em> is <em>August Sebastiani</em> — forth generation grandson of <em>Samuele Sebastiani</em>, founder of <em>Sebastiani Winery</em> in Sonoma. This family has been making <em>premium</em> adult beverages for a LONG time. Interestingly, Sebastiani Winery was the only California winery that <em>didn’t close during prohibition</em>. How’d they pulled that off? Anyway, the folks at 3 Badge keep cranking out some of the <em>best sourced craft Spirits</em> PERIOD. Currently, they produce a tidy range of Wines, Gins, Whiskies, Tequilas, and Rums and you <em>should try them all</em>.</p><p>The Rum brand of 3 Badge is the <em>Kirk & Sweeney</em> lineup. All of them are created in <em>Santiago de los Caballeros</em> in the Dominican Republic. <em>Kirk & Sweeney XO</em> is special. It’s <em>hand crafted</em> from blackstrap molasses. The core lineup of Kirk and Sweeney Rums is available in twelve, eighteen, and twenty-three year-old versions — all of them exceptional and a great value. The XO is the<em> top of the line special edition</em>, and it shows. It is a blend of old Rums aged in <em>American oak</em> and delivered at <em>cask strength</em> (65.5% ABV) in a stunning crystal decanter that’s hand etched and gold-filled.</p><p><u>Smartass corner: </u><em>The Kirk and Sweeney was a ship — a schooner used for Rum-running during Prohibition. In 1924 it was seized by federal agents off the coast of New York with a heavy load of contraband Rum sitting on deck.
