<p>One of the rare Brandy de Jerez that’s actually distilled in Jerez.</p><p><em>González Byass </em>is one of the largest and most famous of Spain’s Sherry-making bodegas. It was founded in <em>1835 </em>by<em> Manuel María González Angel,</em> who was joined shortly thereafter by his trading partner, <em>Robert Blake Byass</em>. The company has expanded with each generation — six of them — with ownership and <em>operation firmly under family control.</em> They have a wide range of Sherries, Cordials, and Wines in the portfolio.</p><p>Lepanto is the<em> flagship luxury brand</em> of Sherry from<em> González Byass.</em> The name comes from a famous sixteen century naval battle where European forces — lead by the Spanish King — defeated an encroaching Ottoman fleet.</p><p><em>Lepanto O.V. Brandy </em>is one of the few Brandy de Jerez that is actually distilled in the region of Jerez instead of just being aged there. It’s matured in a Solera system with Brandies that are aged for over 12 years in ex-Sherry American oak casks, <em>Tio Pepe Fino Sherry</em> to be precise. Then, this elegant Brandy gets another 3 years in very old <em>ex-Oloroso Apóstoles and Matusalém sherry.</em></p>
