<p>All you need is a few ounces of this golden mahogany wonder, a beautiful date, and a cigar. </p><p><em>Louis Royer </em>set up his first Cognac still in <em>1853 </em>at the ripe old age of <em>25</em>. OK, that’s pretty impressive. Before that he kept bees to produce his own honey — a hobby that he maintained for his entire life. The logo of the <em>Louis Royer Cognac </em>company is a gold and blue honey bee to this day. Louis Royer Cognac produces a core range of fine Cognacs — from VS through the their very special 38 Years Grand Champaign, and a few special releases that were evidently distilled by Pterodactyls during the Jurassic Epoch. </p><p>Well, not quite that long ago, but you get the point. These guys have been making some of the finest Cognacs in the world in strictly limited production <em>since the Spring of Nations</em>. They do one thing, and they do it very very well indeed. </p><p>If you are new to Cognac… <em>where the heck have you been? </em>Let’s start with the label… it says <em>“Louis Royer” </em>— one of the hidden gems of the Cognac world so you know it’s good stuff. It says XO, so you know that this is more than just the good stuff — it’s aged a minimum of <em>six years </em>in <em>premium Limousin oak</em>. If the long history and impressive cultural contribution of France were limited to this one fine Cognac, it would be enough. </p><p><em>Louis Royer XO </em>is like life itself… made for savoring, my friend. Just pour it neat into a snifter and call it a day. All you need is a few ounces of this golden mahogany wonder, a beautiful woman, and a cigar.
