<p>A story of a great rock band, well-crafted Single Malt, a unique cask set-up, and The Winds of Change. </p><p>We shouldn’t surprised that a Single Malt Whisky could be made well in <em>Sweden</em>. After all, Sweden sits at about the same latitude as Scotland and is surrounded by the same North Sea. I guess we should really be asking what took them <em>so long</em> to get around to it? <em>Mackmyra</em> has been tinkering with their malt-distillery since <em>1999</em>, but up until a few years ago all their product was used in side beverages, blends, and flavored drinks until they got it right. They started releasing their Single Malts in<em> 2008</em>. Most of their Spirits are aged in new, Swedish oak placed 50 meters underground in an <em>abandoned mineshaft.</em></p><p>If you listened to hard rock music in the 1970s and 1980s you already know the band <em>The Scorpions</em>. They are one of the <em>most influential bands</em> in the genre and have a<em> long string of hits</em>. <em>Mackmyra Scorpions Single Malt Whisky</em> is a collaboration between the band and the Mackmyra Distillery. The base Spirits is aged in a combination of ex-Bourbon and Oloroso Sherry casks. Then — in a tribute to the band’s German heritage — it is finished in casks used to mature <em>sweet German Cherry Wine</em>.</p>
